Ten-day investor readiness sprint across brand and web

Behind The Scenes

CHALLENGE

With high-stakes investor meetings locked in just ten days out, The Inverter Company engaged Mammoth to develop a full brand identity and digital presence that would inspire confidence, clarity, and credibility in a radically short timeline.

The client had a series of investor pitches in less than two weeks, but they were going into it with no brand identity, no website, and no time to spare. Not only did their brand and website have to make a strong first impression, but it needed to be strong enough to be built off of in the company’s next phase of growth. The deadline was immovable, and the quality of execution could not be compromised.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT & PRE-ENGAGEMENT

This one started at a Christmas party. Seriously.

In December 2023, Matt was in Calgary tagging along with his brother-in-law to a string of holiday events. At one of them, he met Kelly and Matt Hall, close friends of his brother-in-law.

That offhand moment turned into a Calendly booking five weeks later.

Kelly was prepping for a series of pitch meetings in New York City–just ten days out. No budget, no revenue (yet), and was in the thick of a funding raise. But she had urgency, clarity, and ambition. So, of course, we took on her project.

The scope? Finalize a new name, build a brand identity, design a landing page, and overhaul the pitch deck. It fit our sprint model perfectly - an intense, focused engagement that we only offer two to three times per year.

Because time was tight, and our General Manager, Vicky, was on vacation, Kelly and Matt ballparked the budget over a call - no paperwork, just an email. (Sorry Vicky!)

APPROACH & SOLUTION

To meet the urgency and complexity of the task, we activated our SPRINT process – a rapid, highly collaborative framework built for startups. Our internal team moved fast and strategically, aligning in working sessions and syncing with the client twice daily to maintain clear communication and momentum.

Creative direction, led by Rashid Sadykov, focused on simplicity, confidence, and a forward-looking aesthetic that mirrored the client’s technology. Web development, led by Sahiljeet Singh, was built to deliver a smooth, clear user experience while leaving room for future growth. Every decision was made with urgency, alignment, and clarity at the core.

DISCO & STRATEGY

To meet the deadline, we activated our SPRINT process.

We assembled a small, focused team and allocated 60% of their bandwidth solely to this project. There was no discovery session or brand strategy conducted, instead, the team did rapid-fire research to immerse themselves in clean energy and tech startup positioning. No long onboarding, no drawn-out strategy sessions, just internal processes, hybrid tools, and AI optimizers to sprint to the finish line to meet the client timeline.

The sprint model relies on quick trust and responsiveness - this project had both. Kelly and her team were available, clear on their goals, and open to fast decisions. This gave us a great opportunity to flex our creative muscles.

CREATIVE EXECUTION

Given the innovative, streamlined nature of the technology and its role in disrupting the renewable energy industry, we aimed for a design that felt modern and confident, yet simple. The visual identity leaned into minimal design, with a strong palette, clean typography, and a subtle gradient that conveyed momentum without distraction. It was designed to signal trust and innovation – key themes in the company’s story.

CONCEPTS

With the green light in hand, we moved fast.

In just the first hour, the team had created two moodboards: one for the brand, one for the site. Instead of sending a polished presentation deck, we hopped on zoom, screenshared cleaned-up figma boards, and got real-time feedback from Kelly and her VP of marketing.  Immediately after the session, we jumped into logo development, where three concepts were created within a few hours. Two of the concepts ended up resonating with the client, and after a focused conversation we were able to align in a direction.

This decision unlocked everything else - colour palette, type system, and visual elements. From there, we started assembling the assets that would bring consistency across the website and pitch deck.

No long review cycles. No second-guessing. Just fast, confident moves.

PRODUCTION

With the brand system locked in, we moved into build mode. The website design was meant to be a landing page - a platform for brand messaging and renderings to incite interest and excitement amongst possible investors.

We started by extracting key content from the existing pitch deck, then quickly sketched out a basic wireframe for flow and content hierarchy. After a quick walkthrough and client approval, we moved onto visual web concepts.

We built three distinct web content directions:

  1. Futuristic startup cues
  2. Clean minimalism
  3. A balance between tech-forwardness and accessibility

The client chose the middle path - polished, modern, but not over-designed. Once we had signoff, we built the first draft of the site in just 4 hours on Webflow. We then moved through four rapid-fire feedback cycles, adjusting image rendering, fixing inconsistencies in team headshots, and tightening up the site’s copy for clarity and tone.

Once the website was approved, we pivoted to rebuilding the pitch deck and performing a final QC pass.

COMMUNITY IMPACT

This wasn’t just a design sprint, it was about helping a founder show up with power and clarity in front of investors. The website and pitch deck allowed Kelly to present with confidence, the refined brand made the tech feel real, tangible, and investable.

The outcome spoke volumes. The materials we built on a tight timeline without the usual formalities helped Kelly land the funding she needed. The site and pitch deck played a central role in presenting the company as credible, thoughtful, and investment-ready. For a brand that was still pre-revenue and mid-raise, that perception mattered.

“It was fast, intense, and surprisingly seamless. The Mammoth team built instant trust — every step felt collaborative, focused, and intentional. They made sure speed never came at the expense of quality."

STATISTICS

This project marked the first time we ran our newly developed SPRINT process in the wild. It was a bit of an experiment - one we knew had potential but hadn't road-tested at this scale or intensity.

The results gave us a real-world look at how it holds up under pressure and real world stress.

We ended up logging 40% more hours than originally scoped.

Which meant we technically lost money on this project. However, the tradeoff was insight, as we walked away with a far clearer understanding of how to scope, budget, and structure future sprint style projects.

We now use this project as an internal benchmark when assessing future sprint opportunities.

It validated that speed and quality can coexist, as long as alignment, clarity, and trust are in place from the start.

It wasn’t perfect. It wasn’t profitable.

But it is proof that when the vision is clear and the deadline is terrifying, good things can still happen. (Preferably with a better time tracker next time…)

GRIT IMPACT

This project wasn’t perfect. It wasn’t profitable. But it was GRIT in action.

Running our newly developed SPRINT process at this scale and intensity for the first time was a leap into the unknown. It was an experiment. We ended up logging 40% more hours than scoped, technically putting us in the red. But what we gained was far more than revenue: we earned real-world insight into how our process holds up under pressure, how to better scope and budget, and what alignment truly requires when speed is the priority.

It became our internal benchmark for future sprint-style projects. The experience validated that speed and quality can coexist, if you lead with trust, clarity, and commitment. And while the deadline was terrifying, and the time tracking could’ve been tighter, we proved that even in imperfect conditions, meaningful and lasting progress is possible. That’s GRIT.

Mammoth Team Quote

"While we do not offer these 'SPRINT' offerings that often, I do love that we have this trusted process in our toolkit for startups who are ready to hit go and don't have the luxury of 3 - 5 months"
